PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce waste sheets in performing an auto purge function.SOLUTION: When paper jam occurs (step S1; YES), an image forming apparatus sets a recovery sheet number indicating order of image formation of images that are required to be formed due to the paper jam after the paper jam is resolved, to (n-i) corresponding to the first image after the paper jam is resolved, and sets a target sheet number indicating order of conveyance of target sheets that are already fed and do not have images formed thereon, to (n-j) corresponding to a sheet on the most downstream (step S2). When the paper type of the sheet P(n-i) on which a (n-i)th image is to be formed matches with the paper type of the sheet P(n-j) on which a (n-j)th image is to be formed (step S3; YES), the image forming apparatus prepares the sheet P(n-j) as a sheet on which the (n-i)th image is to be formed (step S4). When there is the subsequent target sheet (step S5; YES), the image forming apparatus decrements the value of i and value of j by 1 (step S6) and returns to step S3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
