PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short optical pulse generation device with which it is possible to chirp the frequency of an optical pulse with a small voltage.SOLUTION: A short optical pulse generation device pertaining to the present invention includes an optical pulse generation unit for generating an optical pulse, a frequency chirp unit 4 for causing the frequency of the optical pulse generated by the optical pulse generation unit to be chirped, and a group velocity dispersion unit for causing a group velocity difference corresponding to a wavelength to occur in the optical pulse chirped by the frequency chirp unit, the frequency chirp unit 4 being provided with an optical waveguide 42 by which the optical pulse generated by the optical pulse generation unit is guided and which is configured with a material having an electro-optical effect, and electrodes 44, 46 for applying a voltage to the optical waveguide 42.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
