Disclosed are a wearable device including a modular functional block and a method for extending a function of a wearable device using the modular functional block. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the wearable device comprises a plurality of functional blocks detachably fastened to a strap coupled to a main block of the wearable device. At least one processing block of the functional blocks and the main block is configured to recognize a mounting state of other functional blocks and generate application information provided as a combination of the functional blocks fastened to the strap. According to the present invention, various functional blocks are added to a strap of a wearable device, thereby changing the wearable device into a customized wearable device.
