Provided is an image pickup device that includes: an image pickup module; a detection unit; a storage unit; and a control unit. The detection unit detects whether a finder apparatus is mounted to the image pickup device. A storage module stores first information and second information. The first information indicates one or a plurality of first operations that can be executed in a case where the finder apparatus is mounted to the image pickup device. The second information indicates a plurality of second operations that can be executed in a case where the finder apparatus is not mounted to the image pickup device. In a case where it has been detected that the finder apparatus is mounted to the image pickup device, the control unit controls the image pickup module or a lens module which is connected to the image pickup module so that the first operation based on the first information is carried out. In a case where it has been detected that the finder apparatus is not mounted to the image pickup device, the control unit controls the image pickup module or the lens module so that the second operation based on the second information is carried out.
