PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass for chemical strengthening that can reduce the replacement frequency of the molten salt.SOLUTION: Provided is a glass for chemical strengthening containing, in a mole percentage representation of an oxide basis, SiOby 61 to 77%, AlOby 7 to 18%, MgO by 3 to 15%, CaO by 0 to 5%, ZrOby 0 to 4%, NaO by 8 to 18%, and KO by 0 to 1.9%, and in which the sum of the content of the SiOand AlOis 85% or less, the sum of the content of MgO and CaO is 3 to 15%, as well as in which R calculated by the following formula using the content of each component, is 0.66 or more.
