The present invention provides an apparatus and a method to automatically provide a driver with a date of expiration of a high-pass card. The apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a prepaid/postpaid determination unit to determine whether a card inserted into a high-pass terminal of a vehicle is a prepaid or a postpaid one; a card information acquisition unit to acquire balance information and expiration date information from the card if the card is determined to be a prepaid one and acquire the expiration date information from the card if the card is determined to be a postpaid one; a card validity determination unit to determine whether the card has been expired by comparing the expiration date information with the current time; and a determined result notification unit to visually or audibly notify the driver that the card has been expired if the card has been expired. |
