PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper money storage and a paper money transaction device capable of reliably detecting the paper money inside a reject box without depending on the paper money introduced into the reject box.SOLUTION: Paper money storage includes: a first light emitting sensor; a first light receiving sensor; a first light reflection plate for reflecting light emitted from the first light emitting sensor; and a first reflection plate for reflecting the light emitted from the first light emitting sensor. Among the first light emitting sensor or the first light receiving sensor, one sensor is arranged at a lower side of the bottom plate, and among the first light emitting sensor or the first light receiving sensor, the other sensor is arranged at a first lateral face side and at a position higher the first reflection plate. The first reflection plate is arranged at a second lateral face side of the paper money storage and at the position at which a height of the first reflection plate with the position of a bottom plate as a standard is equal to or less than the length of the paper money shortest in length in a transverse direction among the paper money handled by the paper money handling machine.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
