PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of determining whether or not a subject exists in a position where refocus is possible in data obtained from an imaging element for a video on the basis of information different from output from the imaging element for the video and to provide an imaging method.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes imaging means including a plurality of photoelectric conversion parts receiving luminous fluxes from the subject after passing through different pupil regions respectively, distance information generation means for detecting light from the subject and generating distance information on the distance of the subject, determination means for determining whether or not the subject is within a distance range where the refocus is possible in processing after imaging on the basis of the distance information and the pupil division configuration of the plurality of photoelectric conversion parts, and control means for controlling the imaging of the subject by the imaging means, according to a determination result by the determination means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
