The present invention makes it possible to reduce the generation of torque in a motor due to the unintended flowing of a q-axis current in a motor during discharging of a smoothing capacitor. This motor control device, which controls a system having an inverter which has a smoothing capacitor connected to a power source via a relay, a motor which is connected to the inverter, and a current sensor which detects a current flowing in the motor, is provided with a discharge control unit that discharges, in the motor via the inverter, a charge stored in the smoothing capacitor, and with a current sensor calibration unit that calibrates the current sensor while the current in the motor is not flowing during the interval between when the relay is cut off and the start of discharge control by the discharge control unit. The discharge control unit carries out discharge by controlling the current of the motor on the basis of the value of the current sensor calibrated by the current sensor calibration unit. |
