The centrifuge has a rotary drum and a screw rotated to the rotary drum at a rotational speed difference and arranged in the rotary drum. The screw has a helical screw blade (3) arranged at an outer circumference of a screw body. A pressure plate is arranged on the screw body and coincides in a region with the screw blade so that a wedge area (13) is formed between the pressure plate and the screw blade. A window-like recess (11) is formed in the screw blade in the wedge area to ensure flow of material through the screw blade.
