A method is provided for displaying a flatware item on a base. The flatware item has a handle end and a functional end and an overall height extending from the handle end to the functional end. A portion of the handle end of the flatware item is inserted into a correspondingly shaped hole defined in an upper portion of the base, such that at least 75% of the height of the flatware item extends outwardly from the hole and the flatware item is retained in a generally upright orientation by the base. Preferably, no portion of the functional end of the flatware item is leaned against or retained by any other object while the flatware item is retained in the base. A related display and flatware item is also provided. |
