PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging device capable of suppressing charging failure of a periodic streak-state, even when it is stored under a high temperature and humidity environment for a long period of time.SOLUTION: A charging device 200 comprises: a charging roll 14; a cleaning roll 100 having a shaft core 100A and an elastic layer 100B disposed on an outer peripheral face of the shaft core 100A, in which the elastic layer 100B has a compression residual strain ratio of 5% or less, and the cleaning roll 100 cleans the charging roll 14; a holding member 110 having a first bearing part (for example, a first bearing hole 112) for holding a shaft core 14A of the charging roll and a second bearing part (for example, a second bearing hole 114) for holding the shaft core 100A of the cleaning roll; and a compression member 128 for compressing the holding member 110. Difference between an inner diameter D2 of the second bearing hole 114 and an outer diameter D1 of the shaft core 100A of the cleaning roll is 0.01 mm or more and 0.12 mm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
