PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which when implementing a high speed and highly accurate focus detection using both of a phase difference AF and a contrast AF by a reconstruction image, there might be a case where a variation in an evaluation value of the contrast AF by the reconstruction image is large.SOLUTION: A focus detection device using a picture signal generated by photographing an optical image of a subject from a different area in a pupil area of an imaging optical system, respectively to implement a focus detection, the focus detection device is configured to: acquire an image signal corresponding to the different area in the pupil area from the picture signals; generate a reconstruction image of the subject on a virtual imaging plane using the image signal; generate an evaluation value of the focus detection based on a first focus detection method from the reconstruction image; set an evaluation area generating the evaluation value at the reconstruction image; and generate focus detection information on the basis of the evaluation value. The evaluation area is a prescribed area of the image of the subject based on the picture signal, and is limited by an area unit in accordance with a prescribed relation between the different areas in the prescribed area composed of a plurality of mutually adjacent areas.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11 |
