An auxiliary power supply device (100) for an electric rolling stock is provided with: a resonance type inverter circuit unit (102) for converting DC power input from a DC power supply (101) to AC power; a primary coil to which the AC power from the inverter circuit unit (102) is input; a transformer (103) for outputting AC power from a secondary coil insulated from the primary coil; a converter circuit unit (104) for converting the AC power output from the transformer (103) to DC power; a filter capacitor FC3 for smoothing a DC voltage output from the converter circuit unit (104); and an inverter control unit (105) for outputting a gate signal GS for operating a switching element of the inverter circuit unit (102). In a charging mode for charging the filter capacitor FC3, the inverter control unit (105) sets a pulse width of the gate signal GS to be smaller than in an operation mode for operating the electric rolling stock, and gradually increases the pulse width as control time in the charging mode passes.
