摘要 This ultrasonic-type object detecting apparatus sequentially detects the distance between an ultrasonic sensor (1) and an object at prescribed detection periods on the basis of the time taken for the ultrasonic sensor to receive a reflected wave of a transmission wave. The ultrasonic-type object detecting apparatus is provided with: a storage unit (21) for storing the distance to an object; a vehicle information obtaining unit (F1) for obtaining vehicle information for calculating a movement distance; a detection distance predicting unit (F4) for predicting, on the basis of the past detection result and the vehicle information, the next-detected distance to the object; a short range determining unit (F5) for determining whether the object is present in a short range area in which the distance between the object and the ultrasonic sensor is equal to or shorter than a threshold short range value, on the basis of whether the distance predicted by the detection distance predicting unit is equal to or shorter than the threshold short range value which is the upper limit value of the distance within which the reflected wave from the object returns therefrom while the transmission wave is being reverberated in the ultrasonic sensor.
