The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for multilayer coating film formation which can form a multilayer coating film that is reddish, has high chroma, gives a sense of excellent deepness, and has excellent weatherability. This method for multilayer coating film formation comprises: step (1) in which a first colored coating material containing an organic red pigment and giving a coating film that has a hue in the range of 23±3º in terms of hue angle h according to the L*C*h color system chromaticity diagram is applied to form a first colored coating film; step (2) in which a second colored coating material containing an organic red pigment and giving a coating film that has a hue in the range of 35±5º in terms of hue angle h according to the L*C*h color system chromaticity diagram is applied to the first colored coating film, thereby forming a second colored coating film; and step (3) in which a clear coating material is applied to the second colored coating film to form a clear coating film. This method is characterized in that the color difference ΔE between the first colored coating film and the multilayer coating film obtained by the steps (1) to (3) is within the range of 20-30. |
