<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress consumption of a plug caused by avoidance of a discharge blow off and repetition of discharge. <P>SOLUTION: An ignition system of an internal combustion engine includes: an ignition coil 20 including a primary coil 21 and a secondary coil 22 and outputting a secondary current I2 to an ignition plug 30; a DC-DC converter 40 (power supply unit) for outputting a discharge-sustaining current I3 to the ignition plug 30; and an ECU 5 (discharge controller) for controlling discharge such that the discharge starts with an output voltage from the secondary coil 22 and the discharge ends by an output stop of the discharge-sustaining current I3. The DC-DC converter 40 is electrically connected to the ignition plug 30 so that the discharge-sustaining current I3 is supplied to the ignition plug 30 without passing through the secondary coil 22. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
