<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fast scanning probe microscope capable of observing a dynamic state of a single chain of a synthetic polymer. <P>SOLUTION: A fast scanning probe microscope includes: a solution cell of which the upper part is opened and which internally accommodates an organic solvent; a sample holder for holding a sample at such a position as to immerse the sample in the organic solvent in a state where a surface of the sample is turned downward; a probe which is disposed, inside the solution cell, at such a position as to be immersed in the organic solvent and as to oppose to the sample surface; and an actuator for moving the sample holder with respect to the probe, without moving the solution cell.
