A node in wireless sensor network comprises a communication module which transmits and receives packets with the node′s neighboring nodes, a memory which stores a program that controls the node′s state, and a processor which executes the program. In this regard, the communication module checks whether the packets transmitted from the neighboring nodes are received, and as the communication module receives the packets, the processor generates a random number between 0 and the number of active neighboring nodes, when the number of neighboring nodes is larger than a threshold value, and the node′s state is kept active, when the number of active neighboring nodes is equal to or lower than the threshold value, or when the number of neighboring nodes is larger than the threshold value, and the generated random number is equal to or lower than the comparison result between the threshold value and the retention time of the node′s current state, and the node′s state is changed to a passive state, when the number of neighboring nodes is larger than the threshold value, and the generated random number is larger than the comparison result between the threshold value and the retention time of the node′s current state, and whether to transmit the received packets or not is determined based on the state of the node which is kept active or changed to a passive state, and a neighboring node table which includes the number of active neighboring nodes and state information and an entry of the neighboring nodes, is stored in the memory, and the entry includes ID, address field, and received time field of the neighboring nodes. |
