The present invention relates to a watch type terminal of which each component can be separated and a control method thereof. The watch type terminal includes: a camera; a display unit connected to the camera; a main body formed to be coupled to the display unit; and a control unit activating the camera based on whether or not the display unit is coupled to the main body. The control unit displays the image received from the camera on the display unit.
