The present invention relates to a motor driver and an air conditioner including the same. The motor driver according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a rectification unit for rectifying an input alternating current power source; a capacitor for storing a ripple voltage outputted from the rectification unit; a boost converter between the rectification unit and the capacitor, for outputting a boosted power source after boosting the power source rectified from the rectification unit; a ripple voltage detection unit for detecting the ripple voltage; an inverter having a plurality of switching elements, for outputting the converted alternating current power source to a motor by using a voltage in both ends of the capacitor; and an inverter control unit for controlling the inverter based on the ripple voltage detected by the ripple voltage detection unit, wherein the inverter control unit outputs a calculated inverter switching control signal after calculating the inverter switching control signal corresponding to a turn-on duty of the switching elements in the inverter during half of a switching period corresponding to a switching frequency. Accordingly, the motor driver using a low capacity capacitor can be operated stably even if sudden voltage fluctuation occurs at a direct current terminal. |
