A server includes a storage unit storing the age and/or sex of a holder of a card, and an authentication device comprises: an image capture unit that acquires image data by capturing an image of a user; a storage unit storing estimation data for estimating an age range and/or sex of the user; and a control unit that calculates a determination value of the user's age range and/or a determination value of the user's sex on the basis of the image data input from the image capture unit and the estimation data acquired from the storage unit, and that determines whether the user is the holder of the card by comparing the user's age and/or sex transmitted from the server with the determination value of the user's age range and/or the determination value of the user's sex that have been calculated.
