An ink jet recording device comprising: a head unit that includes a recording head which ejects ink and a relay member which relays an ink accommodating portion where ink is accommodated with the recording head, and is movable in a scanning direction of the recording head; and an ink tube that is connected to the relay member, guides ink which is sent from the ink accommodating portion to the relay member, and has flexibility, wherein the ink jet recording device further includes a cover portion that covers at least a part of the head unit that is opposite an nozzle surface where the ink in ejected when the head unit is positioned in an end portion in the scanning direction, wherein a high position with a narrow gap from the cover portion and a low position with a wide gap from the cover portion are formed in an upper portion of a relay member accommodating portion of the head unit where the relay member is accommodated, and wherein a part of the ink tube extends outside the head unit by using the gap that is formed between the low position of the relay member accommodating portion and the cover portion when the head unit is positioned in the end portion in the scanning direction.
