PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method appropriate for manufacturing an organic electroluminescent element having high external extraction quantum efficiency and a long emission life.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an organic electroluminescent element comprises a process for forming a luminous layer containing a polymer which is synthesized from at least two kinds of monomers. Impurity contents of the monomers are 1000 ppm or less, and each of the two kinds of monomers is an organic compound having a reactive substituent. The process for forming the luminous layer comprises the steps of: (a) making a solution of the two kinds of monomers by dissolving them into a solvent; (b) preparing a polymer reaction solution by polymerizing the solution by either irradiating the solution with ultraviolet light or heating the solution; (c) preparing coating liquid including the polymer reaction solution without isolating the polymer from the polymer reaction solution; and (d) applying the coating liquid, in this order.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
