Provided is a method for manufacturing a decorative component, by which a secondary pattern that is more conspicuous than a main pattern can be applied relatively simply and easily to a desired location. This method for manufacturing a decorative component 11, 12 includes a water transfer step, a secondary pattern formation step, and a clear coat layer formation step. In the water transfer step, a water transfer layer 15 that includes an ink layer 16 for applying a main pattern 24 is formed on the surface 14 of a component material 21 by a water transfer process. In the secondary pattern formation step, portions of the ink layer 16 in the water transfer layer 15 are removed by laser processing, to a depth sufficient to reach the surface 14 of a component material 21. By this processing, there is formed a secondary pattern 27 having a different pattern from the main pattern 24 and a higher contrast than the main pattern 24. In the clear coat formation step, a clear coat layer 18 is formed over the water transfer layer 15 in which the secondary pattern 27 was formed. |
