A display device comprises: a display panel including a pixel electrode configured to receive a data voltage and a common electrode configured to receive a common voltage; and a touch sensor which comprises a plurality of operation electrodes and a plurality of sensing electrodes. The touch sensor applies a touch detection signal to the operation electrodes in an active mode and receives a sensing signal from the sensing electrodes to detect a touch location. In addition, the touch sensor is configured to cease output of the touch detection signal in an idle mode and receives the sensing signal of the sensing electrodes changed by a ripple of the common voltage which is applied to the common electrode depending on an operation of the display panel to detect whether a touch is applied. The present invention provides a display device capable of reducing unnecessary power consumption caused by a touch sensor.
