PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for refining γ-linolenic acid without carrying out complex steps to obtain high-purity γ-linolenic acid.SOLUTION: The method for refining γ-linolenic acid comprises the steps of: using a microbial fermentation oil as a starting raw material for performing urea addition treatment; converting fatty acids in the γ-linolenic acid-containing microbial fermentation oil into lower alcohol esters; adding a urea alcohol solution to the lower alcohol esters to form urea adducts of fatty acid esters of the fatty acids other than the γ-linolenic acid; and recovering a urea adduct-excluding fraction to obtain high-purity γ-linolenic acid.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
