PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection system for objects around a vehicle in which the possibility of making misdetection due to the effect of rainfall, etc., is reduced.SOLUTION: In a configuration where a vehicle is provided with an ultrasonic sensor for detecting objects around the vehicle, only a receive function is actuated (S100) without originating an ultrasonic wave from the sensor in a period (No in S60) in which the vehicle is travelling at a prescribed or higher speed, and, when an object such as rain, etc., is detected, the number of times detection is determined that is used in determining the detection of an object around the vehicle is increased (S130).
