PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glass substrate for a display suppressed in influence to the surface quality of a glass substrate for a display and also suitable in the edge face processing of the glass substrate, particularly, in processing using diamond abrasive grains.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a glass substrate comprising: a feeding step where the contact position with the edge face of the glass substrate for a liquid display is fed with a processing liquid made of an aqueous or water-soluble chemical and water; and a processing step where the edge face of the glass substrate fed with the processing liquid is worked by rotating a processing wheel, in which the chemical is made of one kind selected from a nonionic surfactant and a sulfosuccinic acid salt or their combination, and after the contact the processing liquid with the edge face of the glass substrate, upon pure water cleaning, the content of an aromatic compound left in the edge face of the glass substrate is 5 ng or lower per cm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
