PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic polarizer and manufacturing method of the inorganic polarizer that have an excellent polarization characteristic.SOLUTION: An inorganic polarizer has, in following order,: a substrate that is transparent relative to light of a use band; a plurality of linear metallic layers; a plurality of linear dielectric layers; and a plurality of linear light absorption layers having a light absorption effect, in which the plurality of linear metallic layers is arrayed with the linear metallic layers separated from each other at a shorter pitch than a wavelength of the light on the substrate, each linear dielectric layer in the plurality of linear dielectric layers is disposed on each linear metallic layer of the plurality of linear metallic layers, each linear light absorption layer in the plurality of linear light absorption layers is disposed on each linear dielectric layer in the plurality of linear dielectric layers, a cross section shape of the linear metallic layer in a cross section orthogonal to a long-side direction of the linear metallic layer is a trapezoid with a substrate side as a lower base and a linear dielectric layer as an upper base, and a length of the lower base is longer than that of the upper base.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
