A BACKGROUND LIGHT ENHANCING APPARATUS RESPONSIVE TO A REMOTELY GENERATED VIDEO SIGNAL

A camera of a smart phone a video signal containing an image of a first participant captured by the camera. A first transmitter drive video signal containing a head/face image portion of the first participant is transmited via a communication network. An input video signal containing an image of a remote, second participant is received via the communication network for display in a display device of the smart phone. A video processor of the smart phone is responsive to the input video signal for valuating brightness content of the input video signal and for generating a second transmitter drive video signal having brightness content that is regulated in a feedback manner in accordance with the valuated brightness content of the input video signal. The second transmitter drive video signal is capable of enhancing background lighting produced by a remote display device of the second participant.
