The present invention relates to a rechargeable lithium battery showing excellent charge-discharge cycle characteristics at a high temperature and having high-temperature storage and overcharging characteristics. The rechargeable lithium battery comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode includes a lithium-containing oxide containing Co and Mn. The negative electrode includes a carbon material capable of absorbing and releasing lithium ions and the specific amount of a material (S) including at least one of Si and Sn as well as the specific amount of the nitrile compound A and at least one type of the compound B selected from a group including LiBF_4, LiN(SO_2F)_2, LiN(CF_3SO_2)_2, LiBOB, and LiDFOB. |
