Provided is an image guidance system for tracking a surgical instrument during a surgical procedure. The image guidance system comprises multiple cameras set to be located outside a surgical area for capturing an image of an optically visible pattern. A processing system recognizes a pattern by receiving and treating the image, and triangulates the locations and orientations of each pattern for the cameras. The processing system uses a reference dataset for recognizing the pattern. |
