PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cell lines, and methods for making and using them, for assay of, e.g., compounds that modulate activity of taste receptors (sweet, umami and bitter taste receptors) or odorant receptors.SOLUTION: Embodiments of the present invention make isolated cell lines stably expressing taste receptors or odorant receptors by using a molecular beacon (a signaling probe also referred to as a fluorogenic probe), and provide a high-throughput format for identifying and testing activity-modulating compounds by a G protein mediated cell-based assay and a calcium flux cell-based assay.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
