1. A freezing microtome for the production of thin sections of tissue capable of being examined with microscopy and without having to mount the tissue sample on a block, comprising:
a slide holder including a flat surface and a depression disposed within the flat surface to hold a slide and prevent movement of the slide; a blade holder holding a blade at an angle over the slide; and allowing longitudinal movement of the blade along the surface of the slide; and an engagement system operably coupled with the blade holder and the slide holder to permit movement of the blade holder over the slide holder
