An optical fiber cladding mode leakage method and device, in particular a high-power optical fiber cladding mode leakage method and device, can be widely applied to high-power laser systems. The optical fiber cladding mode leakage method is composed of at least the following two steps: 1) removing a coating (23) on a section of an optical fiber (2) to expose a cladding (22); and 2) immersing the bare optical fiber portion in a stationary or flowing liquid substance (3) having a refractive index larger than that of the cladding of the optical fiber. The complexity of the optical fiber leakage device can be reduced remarkably and the manufacturing cost can be lowered. |
