A first combination of frequency bands is selected for transmitting a first data packet, and a second, different combination of frequency bands is selected for transmitting a second data packet. A data stream is divided into a first set of data and a second set of data. The first set of data is allocated to the first combination of frequency bands, and the second set of data is allocated to the second combination of frequency bands.

a plurality of antennas configured to transmit wireless signals comprising packets of data; and a transmitter coupled to said plurality of antennas, the transmitter configured to produce said wireless signals from a data stream, said transmitter including:
a parser that parses said data stream into a plurality of streams, wherein the plurality of streams are allocated to a first combination of frequencies for transmitting a first packet, and wherein the plurality of streams are allocated to a second combination of frequencies for transmitting a second packet, said first combination of frequencies being different from said second combination of frequencies;a plurality of bandwidth modules that process the plurality of streams in parallel, wherein each of the bandwidth modules provides a plurality of processed streams; andat least one adder for summing processed streams provided by different ones of the bandwidth modules.
