The present invention relates to a guiding mechanism (1) for insertion and retrieval of a sample holder (2) for sample vials in a sample isothermal calorimeter (3) with horizontal sample insertion and retrieval. The guiding mechanism (1) comprises guide rails (41) and guide pins (51, 52, 53) adapted to provide a vertical movement of the sample holder (2) during the horizontal inserting and retrieving movement. The guiding mechanism (1) is adapted to lower the sample holder (2) to place any vials (61, 62, …, 6n) in the sample holder (2) in contact with the underlying surface (31) of the calorimeter (3) only when the correct position for such contact is reached and to lift the sample holder (2) so that there is no contact between any vials (61, 62, …, 6n)in the sample holder (2) and underlying surface (31) during other parts of the horizontal movement. |
