PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device that is able to contribute to an improvement in fuel economy of a vehicle by decreasing consumption current.SOLUTION: An electric power steering device comprises traffic-lane maintaining minute-current removal means configured such that when traffic-lane maintaining current calculation means outputs a traffic-lane maintaining current equal to or lower than a predetermined value in order to change a vehicle traveling path and the rotation of a steering mechanism stops because torque output from an assist motor cannot exceed friction torque resulting from the friction of the steering mechanism and the friction between the vehicle tire and the road surface, the traffic-lane maintaining current equal to or lower than the predetermined value output by the traffic-lane maintaining current calculation means is removed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
