The present invention provides a positioner to support two ends capable of precisely determining a position of a work by preventing damage to a cable, a frame or a work in advance while elevating a pair of elevation frames, and a method for monitoring operation thereof. A positioner (100) to support two ends supports a work (W) between a first member (13) and a second member (15) inserted into a base. The first member and the second member have elevation mechanisms (33, 45), servo motors (29, 31) and location detection units (43, 55), respectively. The positioner has an elevation operation monitoring unit for terminating operation of each of the servo motors if the difference between an actual location detected by the location detection unit of the first member and an actual location detected by the location detection unit of the second member exceeds a predetermined threshold value. |
