The invention relates to a device and a method for providing electricity to an electric motor (4) for propulsion of a vehicle (2). The method comprises the features of feeding Energy Carriers (EC) (102) in the shape of particles having a first oxidation state (I) from a first container (103) on board the vehicle (2) to an Electric Energy Converter (EEC) (113). The EC (102) are reacted at the EEC (113) to change the oxidation state from the first oxidation (I) to the second oxidation state (II) while producing electric energy. The EC (102) is thereafter fed from the EEC (113) to a second container (104) on board the vehicle (2). The invention is in particular directed to the feature that a reversed reaction is enabled on board the vehicle, e.g. by applying a voltage to the EEC to reverse the reaction, and the EC (102) are reacted to change its oxidation state from its second oxidation state (II) back to its first oxidation state (I) before the EC (102) is returned to the first container (103). The invention is also directed to a system for performing the method. The invention is advantageous in that it allows the fuel to be reused without a need to remove the fuel from the vehicle which may be costly and/or hazardous and the particles may be maintained in a closed system. |
