Certain embodiments provide methods to mitigate communication risks in an electronic trading system. An example method including monitoring a communication link established between a mobile trading device and a gateway. The gateway is to provide access to one or more markets at an exchange. The example method also includes determining a communication state related to the communication link and comparing the communication state to a communication risk threshold. The communication state reflects an ability of the mobile trading device to communicate with the exchange. If the communication state falls below the communication risk threshold, a risk mitigation action stored at the gateway is initiated. w 0F>
