Described is a diffuser collector (bipolar plate) for distributing a reactant flow over the diffusing layers of a fuel cell, or fuel cell stack, which is characterised in that the geometry thereof has a specific design, wherein the fluid is distributed over the active area in a radial arrangement. The inlet/outlet of flow is located at the central portion of the plate, where it is branched in several flow channels in a radial manner, thus obtaining several outlets/inlets of flow at the end portions of the cell. The bipolar plate may be circular-, rectangular-, or square-shaped, depending on the specific applications. The transversal flow area of the channel is not constant, but variable lengthwise the channel, beginning with a small transversal area and ending with a large transversal area, or vice versa, where the direction of the flow circulation, as well as the number of channels over the plate may be undetermined and will be fixed according to the specific applications. |
