Provided is a stator assembling method of mounting, to an annular stator core, concentrically wound coils which are each formed by a conductive wire wound in multiple turns and which each include portions to be accommodated in slots and portions to constitute coil ends, the annular stator core including slots which are formed between adjoining teeth each extending radially inward from a back yoke and are formed such that the spacing of the slots increases toward the radially outward portion. The method includes a step for forming a coil assembly that includes multiple concentrically wound coils disposed annularly, and a step for pushing the coil assembly disposed in a space at the inner-diameter side of the stator core toward the outer-diameter side, and fitting the coil assembly into the slots of the stator core. The multiple concentrically wound coils each have vertices at the portions to constitute coil ends, the vertices being directed axially outward. The distance in the axial direction between the vertices of the portions to constitute coil ends at both sides in the axial direction of the multiple concentrically wound coils is set so as to become gradually shorter from the conductive wire mounted at the outer-diameter side of the stator core to the conductive wire mounted at the inner-diameter side of the stator core. |
