PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of reducing an ineffective area where a liquid crystal does not rotate, while improving drive responsiveness of the liquid crystal.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes two substrates holding a liquid crystal therebetween, a first electrode that is one of a pixel electrode and a common electrode and is formed on one substrate of the two substrates, and a second electrode that is the other of a pixel electrode and a common electrode and is formed on the one substrate. The first electrode includes a first portion and a second portion, extending in a first direction and arranged as spaced in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, in each pixel. The first portion has two edges located at opposite sides to each other, inclining with respect to the first direction in such a manner that the width between the edges gradually decreases toward one side in the first direction; and the second portion has two edges located at opposite sides to each other, inclining with respect to the first direction in such a manner that the width between the edges gradually increases toward one side in the first direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
