Provided in embodiments of the present invention are a method and device for using an unlicensed carrier in transmitting and receiving a signal, comprising: when the right to use an unlicensed carrier is preempted by a base station, same transmits a signal in a remaining resource and/or subframes subsequent to the remaining resource, where the signal comprises one or multiple of the following: start symbol identification information, a synchronization signal, a reference signal, and a service data signal, and the remaining resource comprises: a complete orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol located in a contention backoff window and after a point in time when the right to use the unlicensed carrier is contended, or a complete OFDM symbol between the point in time when the right to use the unlicensed carrier is contended by the base station and up to the end time of a subframe in which the point in time is located. |
