PURPOSE:To improve the service life of hollow refractories for connecting the receiving chamber and tapping chamber of an intermediate channel type induction heating tundish to be used for a continuous casting device by using refractories of high Al2O3 base contg. SiC and having excellent spalling resistance as the above-mentioned hollow refractories. CONSTITUTION:The tundish for continuous casting is segmented by an iron core 5 wound with a primary coil 4 for induction heating to the receiving chamber 1 for the molten metal from a ladle 3 and the tapping chamber 2 having an immersion nozzle 8 for tapping the molten metal to a continuous casting mold. The two chambers are connected by the hollow refractories 7 so that the molten metal is admitted from the receiving chamber 1 into the tapping chamber 2. The castable refractories which contain 5-20% SiO2, consist of the balance Al2O3, are inexpensive, have the excellent spalling resistance and corrosion resistance and have the lower induction heatability by energization of the coil 4 are used for said hollow refractories. The intermediate channel type induction heating tundish is produced at a low cost and the service life thereof is extended. |
