A server 22 system such as in an in-flight (IFEC) system providing media content or communications data to a plurality of client local units 24 identifies an unlinking of an earphone device 30 from the output 50 of each unit, stores user-specific data corresponding to a condition of operation at that time, and retrieves the data when an attempt to re-link the earphones, which may be at a different unit from the first, is identified. The user-specific data may comprise details of a content file accessed and a last point of access, and may be stored on the system and associated with a unique identifier, or may be stored on a memory unit of the earphones. It may be determined whether the earphones linked were the last device linked to the unit, which may comprise a plurality of display screens 26 for different earphones. If the time elapsed since an unplugging exceeds a predetermined limit, the system may return the unit to a default configuration. The earphones may comprise a processor module for two-way communication. |
