<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that it is not easy to position a head with high accuracy in head exchange. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes head holders 51A, 51B for holding a recording head 6, a carriage 5 for holding the head holders 51A, 51B. The carriage 5, which has a reference axis member 71 arranged in the same direction as the guide member 3, is movable along a guide member 3 arranged in a main scanning direction. The head holders 51A, 51B are held so that they are detachably put on the reference axis member 71 via a catching part 53. A holder-pressing cover member 82 has pressing parts 182a-182c for pressing the head holders 51A, 51B.
