The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition for a scalp, containing a Forsythia viridissima extract. The cosmetic composition of the present invention contains lyophilisate of an ethanol extract of Forsythia viridissima, especially an ethyl acetate fraction of Forsythia viridissima ethanol extract. According to the present invention, the cosmetic composition for the scalp, containing the ethanol extract of Forsythia viridissima or the ethyl acetate fraction thereof safely and effectively suppresses the proliferation of dandruff bacillus owing to excellent anti-dandruff properties and antioxidative and anti-inflmmatory activities of Forsythia viridissima. In addition, the cosmetic composition of the present invention can inhibit, owing to the antioxidative activities, the production of free fatty acids produced by decomposition of sebum, thereby exhibiting effects of relieving an itchy scalp and preventing the dandruff production caused by hyperkeratinization of keratinocytes. The symptoms of inflammation and red spots are also relived by the anti-inflammatory activities as well. |
